Dinospider
NEW SPECIES: Atewa dinospider (Ricinoides atewa) – this ancient
arachnid was found during a 2006 expedition to Ghana’s Atewa Range
Forest Reserve (Atewa) led by Conservation International’s Rapid
Assessment Program (RAP).
This Dinospider comes from a family that goes back over 300 million
years, almost unchanged. Looking like a cross between a spider and a
crab, the male carries his sex organs on his legs, and eats termites and
ant larvae.
